چکیده
such a galactosyl transfer reaction as well as the decomposition of raffinose in beet sugar production, they may also produce galactooligosaccharides. Mitutomi and OhtakaraX) reported the isolation and identification of six main oligosaccharides produced from raffinose by the action of the a-galactosidase from Pycnoporus cinnabarinus. In our preliminary experiments, however, the a-galactosidase from A. corymbifera was observed to synthesize only two transfer products from raffinose. When melibiose was used as substrate, nine transfer products were detected. As sugar beet roots contain a significant level of invertase activity, raffinose is probably changed into melibiose in the early stages of sugar-refining process. In this paper we described isolation and characterization of three major transgalactosylation products from melibiose. a-Galactosidase was purified from cell pellets of A. corymbifera by the method of Honjo et al.2) Galactinol and melibiose were prepared by extracting from molasses and by decomposing raffinose using immobilized bakers' yeast, respectively.

متن کاملMolds and other fungi in indoor environments: Summary of biology, known health effects and references
Absidia Absidia is one of the pin molds (zygomycetes) that is frequently found in soil and plant debris (Ellis 1994, Zycha et al. 1969). They produce structures (sporangia) filled with sticky spores under relatively moist conditions. It is also known in indoor environments from air and surface samples. No species are known to produce mycotoxins. A. corymbifera is a well-known agent of zygomycos...
متن کاملIsolation and characterization of a strain of Lichtheimia corymbifera (ex Absidia corymbifera) from a case of bovine abortion
BACKGROUND Lichtheimia corymbifera (previously Absidia corymbifera) is a filamentous zygomycetes belonging to the order Mucorales and to the family Lichtheimiaceae. Members of genus Lichtheimia spp. are cosmopolitan and ubiquitous in nature. Lichtheimia corymbifera is a recognized agent of diseases in man and animals. In cattle it causes abortion and mastitis. Three cases of bovine abortion occ...
متن کاملSequential pathological studies in Asian water buffaloes infected intratracheally with Absidia corymbifera.
Zygomycosis was produced experimentally in Asian water buffalo calves (Bubalus bubalis) by intratracheal inoculation of sporangiospores of Absidia corymbifera. Infected animals exhibited dullness, depression, partial anorexia, initial pyrexia, mucopurulent nasal and ocular discharge and coughing during the first week. There was no mortality at any stage of the experiment, which continued for 30...
متن کاملMolecular basis for enhanced activity of posaconazole against Absidia corymbifera and Rhizopus oryzae.
Posaconazole and itraconazole were more potent inhibitors of ergosterol synthesis, in both intact cells and cell extracts from Absidia corymbifera and Rhizopus oryzae, than voriconazole and fluconazole. Similarly, expression of CYP51 from R. oryzae in Saccharomyces cerevisiae significantly increased resistance to fluconazole and voriconazole but not to posaconazole and itraconazole.
